Duty Information

Each month full members will be assigned to Hall or library duty. These will be advised in the Newsletter, and assigned up to 3 months in advance. Duties are assigned on a rolling word so you may only be assigned to a duty once a year.

If you’re unable to make the meeting on the month you are assigned please find another member to do it for you, or to switch months. Contact details for the members assigned will be printed in the newsletter so you can arrange a swap, or you can call other members from the members list.

Hall duty

Up to 5 people may be assigned Hall duty. Members arrive by 6:30pm and assist in setting up any tables needed -for show and tell, library and raffle ticket selling. They will also help with setting out chairs for the meeting.

During show and tell, or if the speaker has items to show, two hall helpers stand on stool steps to hold up the Quilts and items, while the other hall helpers take the shown quilts and hang them on the display stands

After the meeting, when everyone has had time to look, the hall helpers put away all the tables, and make sure the chairs are put away neatly.

Library duty

Up to 3 people will be assigned library duty. Members arrive by 6:30pm and help the librarians set up the library, display the books, process returns, and pack it away at the end of the evening.

Supper duty

If you are assigned to a supper duty you’ll arrive at 6:30pm to set out cups, plate any food, and make preparations to serve tea and coffee (such as have the tea pots ready to add hot water)

Supper will often happen at the start of the meeting. Tea and coffee will be mostly self-serve but you’ll keep an eye on levels and top up as needed.

After supper cups are put in the dishwasher and the kitchen is to be left clean and tidy.

Committee members will ensure that tea, coffee, sugar and milk are available.
