This class will suit confident beginners through to advanced students.
Dianne designed these wall hanging quilts to use lots of embellishment items. These are very loose and free designs and her quilts are merely the basis of the design which students can use to alter and add their own style. She used a fat quarter of hand dyed fabric as her base, then added painted fusible as a background through the middle and appliqued an ink jet photo of a seagull. Then came the fun part of adding all sorts of fibres & yarns, organza, lace and sheers, beads, buttons, twigs & bark to create the effect. This quilt requires both hand and machine sewing.
Students will learn techniques including – applique, machine quilting, painted fusible, using sheers that have been heat gunned, hand embellishing twigs & bark, beading & adding buttons. Dianne will show how to use Washaway plastic to make free motion leaves, waves, lichen etc for those students interested. Students will be required to print off an ink jet cotton photo of their choice prior to class, otherwise they can purchase one of Dianne's prints or email her their picture to print prior to class for a small fee.
The class is $20 for WQ members and $40 for non-members. Please email Heather at firstname.lastname@example.org to book.
